EHS Policy Statement

Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) we believe that Environment, Health, and Safety are an integral part of the way we do business.

We recognize that employees, contractors, business partners, suppliers, customers, visitors and communities are our key stakeholders. We believe that line management is accountable for executing the EHS agenda in their respective areas of responsibility with the senior leadership providing and enabling an environment through active support and resource allocation. Employees and other stakeholders also play an active role of adhering and supporting the company’s EHS policy, standards and procedures and take part, directly or indirectly, in the formulation and implementation thereof.

In our quest towards zero harm to all our stakeholders and the environment we commit ourselves to the following;

• Continuous improvement in the way we manage environmental, health and safety issues.

• Identify EHS risks arising from our activities and institute controls prevent and minimize injuries, ill health and harm to the environment.

• Put in place systems and processes that are commensurate to our EHS risk and impacts.

• Comply with applicable legal and other requirements

• Define our EHS objectives and targets and continually measure and monitor our activities and progress against our objectives and targets.

• Train and develop our people so they are competent in safely executing their duties.
